Nails!

I decided to try a gradient on my nails last night.  I'm terrible at staying neat while I polish my nails so this will look nothing like the many swatches I've seen online.

I used Julep Helen and LA Colors Purple Delight.  This was extremely MESSY, and what you see is how it looked after cleanup.

Subscription Boxes

I heard really great things about subscription boxes.  They're supposed to be a great deal, and include lots of surprises.

I love deals, and I love surprises, so I decided to try a couple of them.  Julep was the first I tried.  Citrus Lane is the second.

JULEP
Julep is a nail polish company, and they send out a box with two polishes and a product, or three polishes every month.  The first box was free so I thought I'd try it.

I got two bottles of polish, a bottle of cuticle oil and two glitter pots.  The polish is quick drying and the cuticle oil is...  well, it's cuticle oil.  In a bottle with a roller applicator.  I haven't used the glitter pots yet, because 1) I didn't have a topcoat, or a clear polish  and 2) when I got the topcoat, I didn't want to mess it up.

The polish bottles are half the size of most that you get in the store, but I figure they're good quality... right?  So I went ahead and got the next box.  The colors were alright, but I wasn't crazy about them.  I also noticed that one of the polishes from my free box stained my nails.

Also in the box was an oxygen nail treatment, which is basically a very pale pink polish that is supposed to help your nails.  Freedom top coat was also included, which dries in two or five minutes, I can't remember.  An eyelash curler and two chocolates were the extras.

I've got no need for an eyelash curler.  My lashes are long, thick, and naturally curly.  No one that I know needs an eyelash curler so it's just kind of sitting around.  I are the chocolates.

It did not seem like the best deal to me, so I bought the special cupid boxes, thinking that might turn out better.  That promised lots of polish and the chance to win jewelry or a gift card.

I got lots of polish and two lip glosses that look terrible on me.  Some of the polish looks terrible on me too.

So far, this does NOT seem like a good deal, which is a shame.  I love polishing my nails.  I didn't cancel in time for March, so they get one more shot.  Well, two, considering I might have enough of their bonus points to get a free box.

Citrus Lane

Citrus Lane is a box for kiddies, and I've got two.  It has wonderful reviews, so I signed up for 3 months for each of my kids.  I have a three year old girl and a 15 month old boy.

In each box was a book, a tube of fluoride free toothpaste, a toy, a kiddie hygiene product, and a mom gift.

One of the toys was a tambourine, and the other a pair of maracas.  The toys are cute, so that was nice.  The books were also nice.  One box had a pack of antibacterial wipes, and the other, a travel sized thing of bubble bath.  The mom products were a really expensive toner and lipbalm.

Right now, I have great skin.  When I took a beauty class, my instructor told me that if my skin care routine worked, to stick with it.  It's basically just washing my face and applying moisturizer if needed. The lip balm was kind of tingly when I tried it.

So, those boxes aren't really worth it to me.  My kids get books and toys all of the time.  We'll see if next month is any better, but I doubt it, since most of the people on the facebook page LOVED the boxes.

Hah, I might remember to take pictures next month!

Dress up cabinet? Maybe not.

$19.99 at the thrift store

My task?  turn it into a dress up cabinet, something like what this lady did: http://www.ramblingrenovators.ca/2011/12/chloes-diy-costume-closet.html

So I removed the drawers

That was easy.  I've got this.  Now, to get rid of those wooden rails.  A hammer should do the trick, right?

My husband removed the front of the rails for me.  Now I'm stuck.  How do I remove the rails on the side?  They're glued and stapled!

To be continued...  Possibly.
